A selection of short breaks and day trips to suit you

For an unforgettable family winter holiday in Lapland

We offer a selection of magical trips to meet the real Father Christmas in his time-honoured home, Lapland. For over 35 years, we have been creating travel experiences all over the world. As pioneers of travel to Lapland, Transun know the region inside and out and have an unrivalled level of local knowledge. Our specially-designed breaks for families show Lapland at its truest and our dedicated team will ensure that everything is taken care of along the way.

So whether you opt for an action-packed one day trip, or prefer to soak up the calm, wintry loveliness of Christmas away from the buzz of modern life on a short break, we want you to enjoy every last moment. We’ll take you to a magical winter wonderland in the region of Enontekio in the far-flung northern arm of Finnish Lapland, deep within the Arctic Circle - far away from the busy, commercial resorts of Saariselka and Rovaniemi. There is much to love here: the silence of wide-open spaces, the beauty of pine trees adorned with baubles of freshly fallen snow and a whole host of exciting winter activities.

The highlight of your trip is sure to be meeting Father Christmas himself. You hear the pitter patter of excited feet as your sleigh pulls up to a small cabin in the woods. Your private family meeting with Santa is an experience your children will treasure forever. All of our Lapland holidays include reindeer sleigh rides, husky-sledding and snowmobile adventures, it certainly is the place to break free of all gadgets, connect with your family and have fun.

What’s more, due to Lapland’s close proximity to the magnetic North Pole, our locations also offer the chance to see the phenomenal Northern Lights, making your holiday with your children even more special. As family holidays go, Lapland with Transun is right up there with the best.

Let’s make your next family holiday one to remember…

In the far north of Lapland

A quaint little Lappish village perched on the banks of a frozen river, deep inside the Arctic Circle, Karesuando provides a tranquil, picturesque and unspoiled backdrop for your Arctic activities. The main village sits on the Swedish side of the river Muonio, home to the Arctic Star hotel whilst the warm and welcoming Davvi Arctic Lodge is situated on a fellside just into Finland. The village has an attractive church - the most northerly in Sweden - as well as a handful of local shops and amenities.

In the farthest northern reaches of Finland, Kilpisjarvi is a new destination for 2018. Situated in the heart of some of Finland’s tallest and most imposing fells, the area is steeped in myth and magic. Sámi tribes of old would light fires to the God of Thunder atop the fallen giant of Saana, whose body lies as the Saana fell, his love Malla creates the adjacent fell and her tears form Lake Kilpisjarvi according to local legend. Kilpisjarvi also plays host to Kolmen valtakunnan rajapyykki, or three country cairn, the point where the borders of Finland, Norway & Sweden meet.

Brrrr! It can be cold!

True Lapland is a wonderful, authentic wilderness location and there is little wonder Santa has chosen it for his home. But please keep in mind that when it comes to visiting Santa there, you are flying deep into the Arctic Circle in the height of winter when weather conditions can at times be adverse

Please remember that you are travelling to the Arctic Circle where temperatures can plummet to levels colder than in the UK. In December 2015, some of our Santa guests in Finland experienced temperatures of around -35C. As most of your activities are based outside, we do supply a thermal suit for everyone (up to size 48) but please ensure you bring a sufficient supply of hats, waterproof gloves, snoods/balaclavas, thermal socks and other warms clothes to ensure all members of your party are wrapped up nice and warm, especially children. There is a short, helpful video on suitable clothing in Lapland on the Transun Facebook page.

Come Fly with Us!

Transun are proud to offer the widest selection of departure airports from the UK to Lapland - more than any other operator. Our flights are operated by a number of charter airlines and include hot meals on both outbound and inbound flights to Enontekio. In addition, due to the small size of Enontekio airport, all Transun guests benefit from a fast and efficient service when landing and boarding.
