Nestled in the depths of Swedish Lapland, the quaint village of Lannavaara is home to fewer than 100 people. Unspoiled vistas of breathtaking beauty are around every corner, and there is a constant feeling that a certain special someone is never too far away.
The memories created on this trip will last a lifetime, with snowmobile tours, husky sledding (with visits to your lodge’s on-site husky kennels), and a visit to a genuine Sami reindeer camp, where you will get the opportunity to feed the reindeer and learn about the rich Sami culture.
And, most importantly of all, you and your family will get your own personal trek deep into the forest to visit the REAL Santa in his cabin.
This isolated paradise lies next to Lattevarri, one of Sweden’s iconic forest fells, or “skogsfjall”, solitary hills that rise suddenly above the boreal forest. The entire area sits within the traditional winter pastures of the Sami communities, and Lattevarri serves as a vital geographic marker for reindeer herders.
The entire region boasts some of the cleanest air anywhere in the world. Every breath will invigorate and inspire you, revitalising parents as much as the excitement energises children.
What to expect
Your three-night break will start with a 3.5 hour flight from a local UK airport, direct to Enontekio, in the far north of Finland (no stressful flight connections!)
Upon landing at Enontekio, you will be met by one of our reps, who will direct you to your coach, which will take you across the border to Sweden, a transfer taking 90 minutes in total.
You’ll be staying at the Aurora Winter Lodge, a picturesque site overlooking the nearby Kenttäsuonto lake. On-site, you’ll find a glass-fronted sauna, promising incredible views across the snow-covered river valley, along with a hot tub (payable locally). Your family will be housed in one of 12 newly-renovated Aurora Cabins, which can accommodate up to 5 people.
The Aurora Winter Lodge will be the starting point for our snowmobile and husky safaris, both of which are full-length, not tasters, so you get the opportunity to soak in the incredible atmosphere of this truly one-of-a-kind location. Other experiences, such as a night-time snowmobile safari to see the Northern Lights, or an ice fishing excursion, are also available to add-on to make your holiday extra special!
Places for this trip are strictly limited, however, to preserve the authenticity of this magical part of the world, so book early to avoid disappointment!
