We’ve included a number of winter experiences in this 3 or 4-night Lapland holiday for this year. A highlight of your trip is the thrill of husky-sledding through the pristine landscape, a very popular winter activity in Lapland. Depending on weather and trail conditions, adults may get the chance to mush, guiding the team of dogs. You can explore the Arctic terrain further on a breath-taking snowmobile safari. Excitement mounts as you set off on your search for Santa. Glide through vast snow-covered forests aboard a reindeer-drawn sleigh in search of a secret hideaway where a private family encounter with Santa himself awaits! Chances for playtime in the snow are plentiful - zoom down the toboggan slope or join one of our exciting optional excursions.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Transun for a truly magical experience. We travelled on the Heavenly Peace Tour. This was a return trip for us having previously visited with Transun in 2014, this year we stayed in a cabin. We travelled with a party of six, four adults aged 42 - 71 and two children aged 7 and 8. We all had a fantastic time and enjoyed each and every experience. Santa and his Elves and reindeer were amazing as were the snowmobiles and huskies. We were greeted at the airport by the Transun & Santa Safari Team who were friendly and energetic and looked after us from start to finish. The setting and location of the hotel is beautiful, a picture postcard. The hotel is in a fabulous isolated location and although basic this adds to the authenticity and magic of this experience. We were well fed with good, warm, filling food and staff at the hotel worked hard to try to meet everybody's needs. I have read some poor reviews of the hotel and experience on TripAdvisor and wanted to express our view that this was an amazing adventure that we will love and treasure forever. We made lifelong memories playing in the snow and exploring the beautiful forests and scenery. I would love to come back again one day - maybe on another Arctic adventure. Please pass on my thanks to all the staff - from reservation through to reps, hotel and the staff who made the excursions and the experiences so magical. Thank You!Read Less

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the deposit?
To confirm the holiday, the deposit is £200 per person. The final balance is due ten weeks before departure, though these terms may differ if you have booked through a travel agent.
What currency should I take?
The currency in Finland is the Euro. Many hotels and establishments in the Nordic countries will not accept cash and only accept card payments. All Transun optional excursions are advertised in Sterling; credit and debit cards are accepted as payment for excursions booked in resort.
Is the resort commercial and kitsch?
Far from it! Our Dashing Through the Snow tours operate in Kilpisjarvi, the very northernmost point of Finnish Lapland. It is an area of outstanding natural beauty with spectacular scenery which is known as ‘True Lapland’ – unspoiled by the ways of mass-market tourism found in Rovaniemi and Saariselka.
What should I wear?
Temperatures can reach as low as -40c in the winter and so it is imperative that you bring adequate clothing for the weather and take extra care to ensure children are safely warm. We provide a thermal all-in-one snow suit and snow boots on arrival in Lapland, but you should wear multiple under layers and bring hats, scarves and gloves (and plenty of pairs of socks!) We give further details of what to wear in our brochure and in the pre-departure booklet in the My Booking section of our website.
Are the excursions and safaris a specified duration?
Lengths given are approximate and can sometime vary dependent on weather conditions or other circumstances beyond our control. For instance, it may be necessary to curtail husky sledding if temperatures drop to -30c since the activity may pose a safety risk for the guests and a health risk for the dogs.
Can I add on additional excursions and activities when in Lapland?
If you wanted to make your holiday extra special, it is possible to add on additional activities to your tour after arriving in Lapland. However, availability of activities and excursions is limited and so we recommend that you book your place before you travel to guarantee your place.
