Human Resources Officer

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a tour operator specialising in holidays in the Arctic Circle as a Human Resources Officer.

We now seek a dedicated Human Resources Officer to co-ordinate the HR activities concerning our seasonal employees who work on our behalf in the Arctic Circle during the winter.

Joining our core team based in our offices in central Oxford, the successful candidate will oversee a range of interesting and challenging human resources tasks, primarily concerning the annual recruitment of approximately 80 seasonal overseas staff.

This is an interesting and demanding position which will offer opportunities for international travel and career progression in our industry for a candidate with exceptional organisational skills and a background in human resources or administration.

Duties will include:

  • Co-ordinating an annual selection process for recruiting approximately 80 seasonal staff members, including: * Advertising job vacancies. * Liaising with recruitment agencies. * Arranging recruitment days. * Corresponding with candidates during the recruitment process. * Supporting in interviews and selection decisions for non-management roles. * Carrying out eligibility to work checks. * Requesting and receiving references.
  • Administration of all HR paperwork including issuing contracts of employment, compiling staff records such as working hours, rotas, absence, and holiday calendars, and maintaining an employee database of confidential details.
  • Overseeing the payroll process.
  • Delivering staff inductions.
  • Arranging staff transport at the start and end of seasonal contracts.
  • Acting as a first point of contact in handling employee relations issues.
  • Providing references.
  • Ensuring compliance regulations are met in accordance with legislation in the UK, Finland and Sweden.
  • Taking day-to-day ownership of transactional HR elements.

Requirements

The successful candidate should be:

  • Experienced in working within human resources or administration.
  • Highly organised and able to respond quickly in a dynamic working environment.
  • An excellent communicator (both verbal and written).
  • Able to work under own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Confident in own abilities.
  • Accustomed to using MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Flexible and able to travel overseas at short notice.
  • Demonstrating a 'can do’ attitude with a collaborative approach to tasks.

Salary: Dependent on experience.
