Vietnam is a country of captivating contrasts. From the rich blend of French colonial influence and local traditions in the cities, to the cool mountain air of the central highlands and the long stretches of golden coastline in central Vietnam, this tour is designed to give you a taste of the essential flavours of Vietnam in all its remarkable diversity.
The tour begins and ends with days in the country's two main cities - Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh (formerly Saigon). We will also visit the beautiful archipelago of over 3000 limestone islands that is Halong Bay, we will marvel at the royal heritage of Hue, before heading, via Danang, to timeless Hoi An and on to the coastal town of Nha Trang.

Itinerary
Day 1: Leave from your preferred UK airport.
Day 2: Arrive in Bangkok and fly to Hanoi via Vietnam. Rest of day at leisure. Overnight in Hanoi.
Day 3: Morning tour of Hanoi, including Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum and Temple of Literature. Afternoon at leisure. Evening Cyclo tour and water puppet show. Overnight in Hanoi. (B)
Day 4: Morning tour visit Chua Huong (the Perfume Pagoda) is the name of a collection of Buddhist temples which are very sacred to Vietnamese people of Buddhist faith, and an annual visit up here in springtime is a must to a lot of believers. Overnight in Hanoi. (B, L)
Day 5: Morning drive to Halong Bay for a boat cruise around the rock formations. Lunch on board and chance to explore some of the caves. Overnight on board boat in Halong Bay. (B, L)
Day 6: Continue exploring Halong Bay in the morning and en route to Hanoi visit Phu Lang ceramic making village. Overnight in Hanoi. (B, L)
Day 7: Morning flight to Hue. Embark on a city tour and see the Forbidden city and Imperial Citadel. Optional extra: cruise down the Perfume River. Overnight in Hue. (B, D)
Day 8: Tour of Hue followed by lunch with Buddhist monks at an ancient pagoda. Afternoon drive to Hoi An via Danang experiencing spectacular mountain scenery and view of China beach. Overnight in Hoi An. (B, L)
Day 9: Mid-morning tour of Hoi An. Afternoon at leisure to visit numerous tailor shops, craft shops, markets, restaurants, or relax on the beach. Overnight in Hoi An. (B)
Day 10: Experience the local lifestyle in the rural village of Tra Que. Enjoy local delicacies including "Tam Huu", a spring roll made with Tra Que vegetables for lunch. Overnight in Hoi An. (B, L)
Day 11: Fly to Nha Trang. Afternoon at leisure. Overnight in Nha Trang. (B, L)
Day 12: Day boat cruise around some of the neighbouring islands and chance to swim in crystal clear waters. Lunch on board. Overnight in Nha Trang. (B, L)
Day 13: Fly to Ho Chi Minh city. Afternoon at leisure to discover Ho Chi Minh including shopping district of Ben Thanh market. Overnight in Ho Chi Minh. (B)
Day 14: Scenic morning drive to Mekong Delta and lunch in My Tho. Ending the trip by taking a small sampan ride through the winding and tiny canals. Overnight in Ho Chi Minh. (B, L)
Day 15: Morning visit to Cu Chi Tunnels. Afternoon at leisure to purchase those last minute bargains. In the evening you'll have a private cooking lesson with a famed chef. Overnight in Ho Chi Minh. (B, L)
Day 16: Fly to Bangkok and on to your airport in the UK or extend your stay on the beach.
