Indochina's Inspiring Marvels
Though Vietnam offers the greatest variety of destinations for visitors to the Indochina region, many feel it is a shame to leave without having witnessed the ancient temples of Angkor. So this tour combines the two fascinating countries, with several days travelling through Vietnam, before flying to Cambodia for the remainder of the tour.
We take in the two main cities of Vietnam, Hanoi in the north and Ho Chi Minh City in the south (formerly Saigon). We enjoy a cruise around the beautiful limestone archipelago of Halong Bay, visit the imperial splendour of Hue, and then head to the charming riverside town of Hoi An. After two nights in Ho Chi Minh City, we leave Vietnam for Cambodia, where we will spend two days in Siem Reap, with a full day touring the magnificent Angkor complex.

Itinerary
Day 1: Leave from your preferred UK airport
Day 2: Arrive in Bangkok and fly to Hanoi in Vietnam. Rest of day at leisure. Overnight in Hanoi.
Day 3: Morning tour of Hanoi including an interesting cultural talk by a local historian at Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum before visiting the Temple of Literature. Afternoon at leisure. Overnight in Hanoi.
Day 4: Drive to Halong where you will enjoy a boat cruise amid the dramatic seascapes of this World Heritage Site of more than 3000 islands. Seafood lunch on board before heading back to Hanoi. Overnight in Hanoi. (B, L)
Day 5: Morning flight to Hue. Afternoon in cyclo tour to the Royal Citadel and the Forbidden Purple City, led by a renowned local historian. Followed by a unique vegetarian lunch with the monks. Overnight in Hue. (B, L)
Day 6: Morning drive to Hoi An via Danang experiencing spectacular mountain scenery and views of China beach. In Danang, visit Cham museum. In the afternoon, onto Hoi An via Marble Mountain. Overnight in Hoi An. (B)
Day 7: Walking tour of the ancient and colourful town centre, led by a member of UNESCO in Hoi An, involved in the preservation of this time-honoured city. Afternoon visit to Tra Que village. Overnight in Hoi An. (B)
Day 8: Morning drive to Danang for flight to Ho Chi Minh. Afternoon at leisure. Overnight in Ho Chi Minh (formerly Saigon). (B)
Day 9: An early morning trip to the Cu Chi tunnels, where we will witness the underground village of Cu Chi guerrilla fighters, and to the Mekong Delta. River cruise on the Mekong River and through the winding canals. Overnight in Ho Chi Minh. (B, L)
Day 10: Fly to Siem Reap. A guided visit to the intricately carved Khmer ruins at Angkor Wat - one of the world's most impressive ruins. Overnight in Siem Reap. (B)
Day 11: Visit the mysterious royal city of Angkor Thom. Overnight in Siem Reap. (B)
Day 12: Fly to Bangkok and on to your airport in the UK or extend your stay on the beach.
