A very British look at Iceland

Posted By Verity Roberts on 01/06/2014

This month the team have been enjoying the historical (and humorous!) videos that film company British Pathé have recently released from their Iceland archive. If these videos spark your interest, you can still visit nearly all of the sites featured today. View our Iceland tours for further information.

1. A 1960's British audience explores the geothermal energy of Iceland. Although banana production in Iceland may be somewhat of a myth, hot springs are most definitely great places to take a business meeting!

2. In the late 1930's we discover Iceland's wild landscape, including the lava field where the oldest existing parliament used to assemble. A site that you can still visit today!

3. And in the early 1930's, you may just recognise some classic scenes of the capital, Reykjavik. A lot has changed in the city but much of this wonderful architecture remains!
